In 2016, the University of Malta conducted another season of underwater operations on the Phoenician shipwreck off Gozo. An international team of technical divers was used to record this unique site as well as to recover a number of archaeological objects. Dr Timmy Gambin, Senior Lecturer in Maritime Archaeology in the Department of Classics and Archaeology, University of Malta, will be delivering a public lecture covering the logistics, diving procedures and the recording processes used this season. Work in progress and some preliminary results from 2016 will be shared through numerous illustrations, 3D work and short videos. This presentation, supported by APS Bank, is entitled The Phoenician Shipwreck off Gozo – the 2016 season and will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, 19 October 2016 at the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, 173, St Christopher Street, Valletta.
